Hey hey hey, thought this might be of some use to anyone whos not posted inverts before This is just a demo - I'm not posting anything, so all the tubs are empty, but you can use your imagination to fill them!
Right, first
Cold weather warning
Please, don't post any temperature sensitive creatures at this time of year without proper attention to keeping them warm. I personally will be posting them using a heat pack (which you can get on ebay cheap) I will also only be posting next day until it is warmer. Again, this is what I would recommend to anyone posting between now and the warmer months. If anyones unsure as to whether the snail they need to post will need a heat pack for the trip, post up or PM
End warning
Alright! now that's out the way, the packing and posting thing:
First, some background tunes to liven up the atmosphere
Excuse our old school TV, being lowly underpaid students we've found our Plasma TV fund never got off the ground.
Next, your supplies:
I also use the substrate from the tanks instead of kitchen towel too, depending on the size of the snails to be posted. Make the towel damp if your using it.
Pad out your transport tub (I'm using a cricket tub for demo as it was lying around)
Pop the lid on, with larger snails I would suggest securing it with a bit of tape.
Put it in your box, and pad this out with bubble wrap. This is where I would add the heat pack, taped to the side of the tub with the snails in in the middle of the bubble wrap.
Put the address on it, and your nearly there.
Now your probably feeling pretty chuffed right? 1st time you've done this, and whaey, no problems at all? Well, next up is the tricky bit.
First, go whip up a suitably light breakfast to see you through the trip to the post office
try not to splatter egg yolk all over the pan though. Doesn't help.
Now, get comfy, and stuff that in ya.
Try not to do this and spill it everywhere (in typical student style)
Now that's done, feeling full? Ready to go? Awesome.
So, head out using one of these
and hop into your chosen mode of transport
(again, student = poor = walk everywhere)
And head to the post office, and post!
Oh, and don't forget this.
So class, any questions?
