It's fine if you do it right. I posted a good 100+ fulica not too long ago now and every one arrived fine.

Its called animal welfair laurence the rarer species that need heating should not be posted we have snow at the minute so far too cold. How would you feel packed in a box and put out in temps below freezing for 1-3 days?

I don't mean in snow because they won't be able to be delivered next day, i mean when it's cold but not snowing

Yeah I know about heat packs but i have contacted a few people and they don't plan on using them and others they are not charging enough on postage to be using a heat pad, I know paul is selling them but as I say no one is charging enough on the postage to be using them. there is snow in a 30 mile radius of us so if I was to buy some they would be received dead its -1 here at the minute I personally wouldn't post in these temps. If you own an animal its welfare should come first if its a snail, dog, cat, mantis, snake I wouldn't leave a snake unheated over night so I wouldn't do it with a snail. x

Well I will be using the heat packs for any particularly sensitive snails if it gets any colder, but will not be charging more for postage. I'm still of the opinion that one cold night wont kill them - I've had touchy ones arrive this time of year no problem. Snakes/lizards/bugs and snails aren't made of glass, one night of chills wont kill them unless theres something wrong to begin with (not that I would choose to let them get cold) if i have some to sell I'll sell them, I'm confident I can pack them well enough that they'll be fine.

I am waiting for snails from Wednesday last week. They were sent on Tuesday (23th November) by RM 1st Class recorded but I did not receive them yet! The services of Royal Mail are very, very bad in the last time. There is some problem every week! The snails are A.fulica but I am afraid of it. Last week I received a lot of snails from my friend (from Continental Europe) and the most of them did not survive this shipping! A.fulica and A.iredalei survived it only. You can send animals with heat packs, well packaged....etc. but if the services of the Royal Mail will be than the problems will be all the time! P.S. I HATE RM!!

Well theres a pretty simple and damn obvious answer to that...
Royal mail next day special delivery. Clue's in the name, only in the post a max of 24 hours. guaranteed to arrive for before 1pm. If not your eligible for compensation.
Like I've said 1000000+ times,
ONLY POST NEXT DAY DURING WINTER.
Oh, and btw, last week I sent some retics to Germany, they arrived perfectly fine about a week later.
It's all down to packing, preparation, and organization.
