OMG while i was on the phone i looked in to my margie tank and spotted somthing that should not be there under closer enspection it was a baby snail....i have lots of baby snails....but i am shocked because daisy(ovum) is 7 inch shell and gary(suturalis) is just under 4 inch shell and they share a tank with a 4 inch roditzi, can 2 diferent sized margies breed or could they be cross breed with the roditzi ?

hey, from what iv been told margies and rodatzi cant breed but cross breed margies can and do happen, some people frown upon it. so i would guess, yes your ovum and sut have mated. if you sell some i am really intrested

i forgot to say when it comes to snails as long as they are sexually mature then size doesnt matter

The ovum and the sut will have bred the rods won't mate with the margies, people like either the ovum or the suts not crosses, This is why people like me ended up with 20 tanks of snails so they were species tanks. I hope the babies do well for you, Margie babies tend to be quite hardy, Dont touch them or feed them for 4 days but make sure they have cuttle if you start touching them too soon it dosen't do them much good try to leave it alone for 2-4 weeks. When it comes to rehoming make sure people know they are a cross breed, If I still had my snail tanks I might have been interested in one to be kept on its own to see what it turned out like but would never use a cross breed for breeding but thats personal preference and every one will have different opinions.

you say not to feed them but they are feeding on the food that i put in yesterday,do i have to take the food out, will the other snails suffer if they dont have food for 4 days? i will not hide that it is a cross breed snail

i am definitely intrested in getting my hands at least one. i personally found when they have come to the surface for the first time they are a couple of days old and ready for eating so if they are eating just leave them to it lol how many have u got? you should put a pic up
